How to make button earrings
Sometimes I see so many cute buttons but don’t always have a use for them. So why not make them into earrings? Here is probably the easiest tutorial I have ever presented to you. You’ll want to make several of these!
You’ll need a pair of buttons with shanks and two earrings.
With a pair of wire cutters, snip off the shanks. Mine didn’t get snipped all the way off.
So I used a pair of nail clippers to snip off the rest. A nail file would probably help too to get the back nice and smooth.
Using craft adhesive, glue the earrings to the back of the buttons.
Smoosh down and clean up any of the excess glue.
Voila! Sweet little yellow rose earrings!

I really really love and appreciate comments, but i hate spam.
Due to the heavy amount of spam comments I've been receiving lately I had to put the word verification up. I know how annoying it can be when you want to leave a comment but I hope you will understand.
Would you be so kind to take the extra step to post your thoughts?
What a great idea! My niece lives to do crafts like this. I will definitely share. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting! Glad you like it!
DeleteThid is so clever! I'll def have to try this! Love the ones you made, so adorable!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kelly!
DeleteIf you're snipping off the shanks, why do the instructions say you need buttons with shanks?
ReplyDeleteBecause the buttons with shanks dont have holes. Plus you can find really great buttons in a bigger variety with shanks. Unless you don't mind having buttons with holes....
ReplyDeleteOH! I see now! Thanks! I love this craft, btw. I'm looking for earring backs and buttons now to do this with my Girl Scout troop. :)
ReplyDeleteYes! This would be a great project to do with them! You might have them wear eye protection. The shanks tend to fly off when snipped.
DeleteThis is amazing, and so simple! I can't wait to try it myself.
ReplyDeleteMy friend knows how to make these and she makes a million of them.
ReplyDeleteSo great! I'm wondering, though, what kind of adhesive you use? I tried this with a metal button, and the earring posts fell off pretty quickly. I think I used Hypo-Cement jewelry glue. What adhesive did you use?
ReplyDeleteI use E6000 a lot and the makers also make many other adhesives. That is the best craft glue in my opinion.
DeleteI love this idea. I'm so gonna try it. But where do I get these metal ear rings? I looked like everywhere but I can't find a place to buy them...
ReplyDeleteUsually you can find these at store that carry beads. If you look at a giant craft store, go to the bead section. They carry them there since beads are usually used to make jewelry. You could also try Etsy. That's my go-to! Good luck, thanks for stopping by!
DeleteWhat size earring post do you use?, i bought some from Joann's crafts and they break very easily.
